Field assets don't get a second visit cheaply. A device deployed on a pole, in a basement, or halfway up a mountain has to earn its power budget, ride out the weather, and keep its data intact through every gap in connectivity.

So we design the device and the cloud as one system: store-and-forward at the edge so nothing is lost, secure provisioning and over-the-air updates so a fleet can be maintained without a truck roll, and a back end that treats a missing reading as an incident, not a rounding error.
